Care/cleaning Instructions: Use warm or cold water, and only add towels to the washer when it's at least half full. Use less detergent than normal, as too much can make towels less absorbent and cause them to smell or look dingy. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners. For new dark towels, add a cup of white vinegar to the wash to help set the color. For musty-smelling towels, add ¼ cup of baking soda. Air drying is recommended, and line drying on a breezy day can make towels softer. Avoid tumble drying. Ironing is not usually needed. Wash new terry cotton before using it for the first time. Chemicals used to maintain the fabric's texture while in storage can make it less absorbent. For the first wash, you can use two cups of vinegar to dissolve the chemicals, soften the fabric, and remove odors.
